Edgenesis Co-Founder Elected to InfiniEdge AI Leadership

[Sunnyvale, CA, August 19, 2024] On Wednesday, August 14, members of the InfiniEdge AI Technical Steering Committee (TSC) from leading tech companies including Meta, Arm, Google, Fujitsu, Comcast, ByteDance, Allegro, and others elected their new TSC co-chair via email ballot. Through a majority vote, Tom Qin, Co-Founder of Edgenesis, has been selected for this prestigious role.

This election marks a significant milestone for Edgenesis in its mission to help create a standardized stack for Edge AI. The InfiniEdge AI project, part of the Linux Foundation Edge (LF Edge), aims to develop an open, interoperable framework for edge AI.

Tom Qin expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, stating, "I'm honored to be elected as TSC co-chair. Together, we'll continue to push the boundaries of edge AI technology and drive the success of InfiniEdge AI."

This development follows Edgenesis' announcement on May 31, 2024, that its open-source project, Shifu, was selected to serve as the edge gateway for the InfiniEdge AI project. Shifu is a Kubernetes-native IoT Gateway that virtualizes IoT devices into Kubernetes Pods and exposes their capabilities as a set of APIs. This innovative approach enables seamless integration of IoT devices with AI and other applications.

Edgenesis has reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to the InfiniEdge AI project, with the goal of positioning Shifu as the "nervous system" for Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). This vision aligns with the growing trend of pushing AI capabilities closer to the edge, where data is generated and consumed, potentially reducing latency and enhancing privacy and security.
